At the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple, several daily sevas (religious rituals) are conducted to honor and worship Lord Venkateswara. These sevas offer devotees the opportunity to witness and participate in the divine rituals, fostering a deep sense of spiritual connection.

Tirumala is a sacred hill located in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Hindus and is home to the famous Sri Venkateswara Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The temple attracts millions of devotees from all over the world every year, who come to seek blessings and perform various sevas (services) to the Lord.

Daily Sevas

The Sri Venkateswara Temple at Tirumala is known for its grand and elaborate daily sevas, known as the Nityotsavas. These sevas are an integral part of the temple’s daily rituals and are performed to offer worship and devotion to Lord Venkateswara, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The Nityotsavas are performed by the temple priests with great devotion and care, and are attended by thousands of devotees from all over the world.

One of the most important Nityotsavas at Tirumala is the Suprabhata Seva, which is performed early in the morning before the Lord is awakened. This seva includes singing devotional songs and offering flowers, fruits, and other items to the Lord. The Lord is then awakened with the blowing of conch shells and the ringing of bells. This seva is considered to be very auspicious and is said to bring prosperity and good luck to those who witness it.

Another important Nityotsavas is the Thomala Seva, which is performed twice a day, in the morning and evening. During this seva, devotees are allowed to offer a garland of flowers to the Lord, and perform other rituals such as lighting lamps and offering prayers. The Lord is then adorned with different garlands made of various flowers, which are changed every day.

The Kalyanotsavam Seva is another significant Nityotsavas at Tirumala. It is performed in the morning and evening and involves the Lord being adorned with various ornaments and clothes, and being worshipped with various rituals such as the offering of fruits, flowers, and other items. The Lord is then taken on a procession around the temple on a decorated chariot, accompanied by the temple priests and devotees.

The Sahasra Deepalankara Seva is a unique Nityotsavas that is performed daily in the evening. During this seva, the temple priests light 1000 lamps around the temple and offer prayers to the Lord. The temple is beautifully illuminated during this seva, and it is said that those who witness it will be blessed with the Lord’s grace.

In addition to these Nityotsavas, there are also several other sevas that are performed at the temple such as Archana Seva, Visesha Puja, Aarthi Seva, and more. These sevas are performed to help devotees connect with the Lord and seek blessings.
